The Office of the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (OUSW(R&E)) Manufacturing Technology Program seeks white papers to mature, scale, and demonstrate defense-relevant biomanufactured precursors and materials at pilot or production-representative scale in support of Department of War (DoW) sustainment and operational requirements within the Indo-Pacific region. The prototype will validate measurable material and/or system performance metrics (e.g., stronger, lighter weight, more powerful, longer lasting, reduced corrosion), with efforts to improve manufacturability, scalability, and operational relevance of the proposed biomaterial. The Government anticipates a phased prototype approach focused on material maturation and production-representative demonstration.
Successful completion may enable follow-on production pursuant to 10 U.S.C. §4022(f), limited to the scope of the demonstrated prototype capability and subject to statutory requirements and availability of funds.
