DESCRIPTION OF THE OPPORTUNITY
The Department of Defense (DoD) has an emerging need for a Long Range / Long Endurance (LR/LE) Group 2 small Unmanned Air System (sUAS) with modular payload capabilities to support multi-domain resilient intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The United States Navy (USN), the United States Army (USA), and the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) have recently released many solicitations [Experimentation Events, Requests for Information (RFIs), Sources Sought, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), etc.] for a LR/LE Group 2 sUAS that has similar (>90%) commonality across performance metrics. The ARL Advanced Prototyping and Experimentation (APEx) Team will release a Request for Solutions (RFS) to develop a hybrid (alternate energy capable) Group 2 sUAS Prototype Kit to support current and future DoD Group 2 LR/LE mission requirements. If successful, the ARL APEx Team intends to produce and provide limited fielding of LR/LE kits for extended Military User Assessments and potential transition support to DoD Programs of Record (PORs). The Hybrid electric Vertical Takeoff or Landing (eVTOL) for Resilient ISR Prototype Project is UNCLASSIFIED.
