The Government seeks solutions for a prototype project to create, integrate, and validate a government-led shore-to-sea test, evaluation, and operational assessment process for Extra Large Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (XLUUVs) that does not currently exist. While an XLUUV vehicle prototype has been developed under a separate effort, the Navy lacks a proven, repeatable process to safely deploy, recover, transport, maintain, and operate extra-large unmanned underwater vehicles across the full shore-to-sea lifecycle in operationally representative environments.
This prototype project will focus on developing and demonstrating first-of-kind methods, support infrastructure integration, and operational procedures through live, Government-led test and evaluation activities conducted at pier-side, harbor, near-shore, and open-ocean locations. Successful completion of this prototype will provide the Government with a validated, repeatable, and transition-ready shore-to-sea assessment process, reduce operational and integration risk, and generate the technical and operational evidence necessary to support future fielding, scaling, or follow-on acquisition decisions in accordance with 10 U.S.C. § 4022(f).
